The greatest news stories from 7 BC to AD 30

This project was set into motion more than twenty years ago. Just after our marriage, we began writing the Chronicle. Mo Siegel was helpful during the initial effort. But, when the first draft was complete, there were obstacles to publishing that seemed insurmountable. The Urantia Book was still in copyright, so extensive direct quotes were out of the question. Production costs for such a full color publication in those days were impossibly high. We wanted to use the photographs from the wonderful 1977 movie, “Jesus of Nazareth,” directed by Franco Zeffirelli, but we were advised that the rights to these would be a nightmare in effort and cost to obtain. Years passed, and we used early versions of the Chronicle for teaching young people (including our daughter, Michelle) about Jesus.

Meanwhile, revolutionary changes in technology made it increasingly possible to actually produce and publish a full color book for a reasonable cost. After extensive editing, we searched for the owners of the rights to the Zeffirelli film’s photographs and eventually found them, striking a deal two years later. The arduous graphic production process began, as well as undertaking several rewrites to incorporate more of the original text of The Urantia Book. To supplement the photographs with some beautiful paintings, Mo Siegel stepped up and was generous in providing artwork from his remarkable collection at

Our thanks to the many other friends who helped us along the way. Eric Cosh worked diligently to scan and provide hundreds ofdigital illustrations for publication. We were fortunate to get proofreading assistance from the following people: Jeffrey Bedell, a son of the legendary advertising maven, Clyde Bedell (who authored a Concordex of The Urantia Book); Dr. Jill Strunk, who also provided insightful advice; James “JJ” Johnson, who was generous with encouragement over the many years of this effort; and Michelle Mullins, who, in addition to proofreading, created our website, We also thank Vic McGonegal and Gary McSweeney for their assistance in this project. We are grateful to all of these good friends (and many others!) who helped us throughout the long and challenging journey to make the Chronicle of the Life and Teachings of Jesus of Nazareth a reality.
